I currently have Proxmox setup with OPNsense as a VM and looking to add both TrueNAS and NextCloud.
I’m confused where to store the NextCloud database and the actual data volume. I have a dedicated NVME SSD for NextCloud data and wondering if I should use this SSD to create a local ZFS pool for proxmox to handle the Nextcloud data storage, or if it’s better to passthrough the NVME to TrueNAS to create the ZFS pool, which is then presented to NextCloud?
I come from the vmware vSAN world where ZFS is not native, so I use TrueNAS for all things ZFS. But seeing as how proxmox can do everything in ZFS, is it foolish to have a TrueNAS VM for ZFS storage and SMB mounting?
