Is proxmox is type1 or type2 hypervisor

Hi There,

I am new to virtualization, I searched in this forum and googled about proxmox is a type1 or type2 hypervisor. Could you please clarify on this?

I studied type1 hypervisors are run on bare metal, by looking documentation proxmox runs on Debian os using QEMU https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Qemu/KVM_Virtual_Machines

Proxmox can be seen as type 1 hypervisor as it uses kvm by default.

I personally can often not distinguish between them, the line is too thin depending on how small you define an operating system and what a kernel does (e.g. monolith vs. microkernel). Yet I concur with @H4R0 and so does Wikipedia.
