Updated: I'm done. I have no clue what I'm doing wrong. I keep following this guide: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Install_Proxmox_VE_on_Debian_Stretch and I keep getting the same goddamn error:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
proxmox-ve : Depends: pve-manager but it is not going to be installed
Depends: qemu-server but it is not going to be installed
Depends: pve-qemu-kvm but it is not going to be installed
Depends: spiceterm but it is not going to be installed

I'm not a tech genius but nor am I totally lost. But this annoys me to the end.

Old Thread:
So I've been trying to setup my first proxmox server; I made it so I have 2x3 TB (= no RAID). Following the wiki without issues until I get to "Update your repository and system by running".

I get the issue:
Reading package lists... Done W: GPG error: http://download.proxmox.com/debian wheezy Release: The following signatures were invalid: BE257BAA5D406D01157D323EC23AC7F49887F95A W: The repository 'http://download.proxmox.com/debian wheezy Release' is not signed. N: Data from such a repository can't be authenticated and is therefore potentially dangerous to use.

Tried to look into my deb list to make sure everything is correct, which it is and to readd repository key without any luck.

I don't like the idea of either allowing invalid signatures to be updated & upgraded nor using deb [trusted=yes]

Thanks for helping

The issue has been found. I installed Debian stretch originally but the newer version of proxmox require Debian Jessie. Sorry for the stupid entry.

Edit: The fix triggered a new error that the proxmox couldn't be verified, the fix was already mention by the user Cosmin in here that says:

no that is wrong

following versions apply:

debian wheezy => proxmox 3.x
debian jessie => proxmox 4.x
debian stretch => proxmox 5.x

Found this on hetzner's wiki on how to install Proxmox - guess I'm back to trying to install Debian
  • Since Proxmox 2.0: Debian Squeeze 6
  • Since Proxmox 3.0: Debian Wheezy 7
  • Since Proxmox 4.0: Debian Jessie 8
Anyhow

the exact commands and the whole output of them would be helpful, otherwise i can only guess what went wrong
