Hi,
I've got a Promox 7.1.-12 with two 10G dual port cards (Broadcom, Intel 82599).
Current situation: I've configured the VLAN aware bridge on the Broadcom card and the VF passthrough on the Intel card. The VMs can communication with each other and other devices on the network. Both cards are being used, one port on each card.
I'm trying to remove the Broadcom and leave the Intel 82599 on the Hypervisor.
Ideally, I would use one 10G port for all the VMs (to free up the other port and card for other uses).
If that doesn't work, I would use both ports on a single card (to free up the other card for another server).
I've run into some issues with my attempts so I'm hoping for some guidance/clues.
Trying to use single port on a single card for a set of VMs:
I've got a VLAN trunk entering one 10G port which has virtual functions enabled (so 1 PF and 3 VF on the Intel 82599). I enabled a VLAN aware bridge (so I can control the VLAN on the Hypervisor) and exposed tagged virtio network cards to the VMs; this works well. At the same time, I tried to passthrough a VF (same card, same port) to another VM but its unable to receive any traffic. I'm guessing that the VLAN aware bridge is conflicting. Is there a configuration or setting that I'm that would allow traffic to pass in both the VLAN aware bridge and VFs?

I've got two VLAN trunks entering two 10G ports on a single Intel 82599 card with virtual functions enabled (so 1 PF and 3 VFs). On the first 10G port, I enabled a VLAN aware bridge (so I can control the VLAN on the Hypervisor) and exposed tagged virtio network cards to the VMs; this works well. At the same time, I tried to passthrough a VF (same card, different port) to another VM using the 2nd 10G port on the card. The VMs can communicate with devices on the network but they cannot communicate to each other or the Hypervisor. Is there a configuration or setting that I'm that would allow traffic to pass between the VMs by going through the switch? (since that works correctly when the cables are connected to different cards).
Thanks in advance.
