For my new build I'm considering the purchase of an Intel X710-BM2 compatible 2-ports 10G NIC. I'm on a budget and would like to get 10G speeds - this cards is doable price-wise.
When verifying support for this NIC, I mainly see errors and issues and people moving to different cards.

Is there anyone using X710 based cards without issues with the standard Proxmox installation?

Hi,

I am not a huge fan of the x710 cards... we have run into various issues with those cards.

If you can get a 5xx chip card or upgrade to a 10/25g card (SFP28 are backwards compatible to SFP+ - so they will run 10G Connections)

Price-Wise they're about the same as the 5xx cards.

Thanks @iprigger. Will avoid the X710 then.

How about a refurbished HP 817753-B21, using Mellanox ConnectX-4 Lx (SFP28 with 10G/25G support) - would that one be recommended?
I see fewer issues listed, and should work out of the box with the mlx5_core driver.
