We have a 5 node Proxmox 4.3 cluster using Ceph storage. I would like to install RadosGW to play with the S3 API. I wanted to see if anyone has had experience doing this and how they went about it. I would assume we could create a VM and install the ceph client on it and make it a client of the ceph cluster but I was wondering if the better approach was to install RadosGW on the Proxmox host(s) instead.

No not yet. I have a theory but haven't tried it out yet. I am thinking of creating a VM but installing proxmox on it. Then making it part of the cluster. That would make it a member of the ceph pool and get all the configs. Then All that needs to be done is install the RADOSGW modules and it should work. My fear is that HA would try to migrate a VM to this VM host in case of a host failure. Anyway that is one idea that I have but I'll probably break down and install a gateway from scratch when it is all said and done. doesn't seem like anyone else knows how to do this since your comment is the first reply to this thread in over two weeks.
