Installing Proxmox VE on a virtual harddrive partition, not the entire drive

Hey there. Trying to install Proxmox VE on a laptop with only 1 NVMe slot. The installer is only recognizing the 1 physical drive, and not the partition I've created for Proxmox. Is there a way to remedy this?

I don't want to wipe the current OS so I'd like to install Proxmox onto just a partitioned space.

You could start with installing Debian 11 on that partition and then add the Proxmox repos and install Proxmox afterwards.
