Hello good people, I am about to install proxmox on an HP Proliant dl360 g7 server. I have two 72GB SAS disks and 6 300GB SAS disks. I was thinking of doing raid1 with the 72GB disks and installing the OS and doing raid 10 on the others and using it for the VM storage, my question is this possible? thank you

Sure, I would do the same. Install PVE to the 72GB disks and ignore the 300GB disks. Either use hardware raid and create your raid1 with it and select that array when installing PVE. Or alternatively disable all HW raid and select ZFS raid 1 for those two 72Gb disks in the installer for a software raid1.

Once PVE is up an running you can create your raid10 from the webUI.

Hello, thank you for answering, I will create the raid using hardware (p410i) after installing PVE on the 72GB disks, how do I add the other disks from the proxmox interface, can I configure it?

If you want to use HW raid again, you would have to use the firmware of HW raid to create that raid10 first. That array should then be presented to PVE as a single disk. I would then create a LVM-Thin storage on it (webUI at "YourNodeName -> Disks -> LVM-Thin -> Create: thin pool").
Or in case of SW raid a ZFS raid10 via "YourNodeName -> Disks -> ZFS -> Create: ZFS Pool" using the 4 300GB disks. In case the disks aren't unpartitioned you will have to wipe the disks first (there is a "Wipe Disk" button at "YourNodeName -> Disks").

Hello, I followed the steps Disks -> LVM-Thin -> Create: thin pool" and added the disks, my question is why GPT "NO" appears, is it normal? Thank you
