Hi,
I´m currently using Proxmox VE 1.9 on a Intel Quadcore machine with 8GB RAM. It has only one 1TB hard drive disk containing the OS and the data. Now I have another two 1TB HDDs which I could use for the Proxmox server. What would be a reasonable strategy for reorganising Proxmox. Probably it would be a nice idea to have a seperated HDD for the OS (which could be smaller than 1TB).

Please help me :)

as proxmox does not support linux software raid (and i'm personally agree with such decision) there are not many choises for you left :) u should use a hardware raid controller and crete raid1 for ur /var/lib/vz and / dirs.
mypersonal setup for proxmox systems is typically something like this:
2x160 GB disks for root file system (mount point "/") in raid1 (also known as mirror)
2x2TB sata3 disks for /var/lib/vz dir also in raid1 (i do not remember if i created it during installation, but i doubt, as proxmox setup doesn't allow one to create partitions if i remember right)
u can copy everythnig from this dir after installation, prepare and mount ur large raid1 volume and copy files back. (dont forget to edit ur fstab to have changes left after reboot)
but sata disks for proxmox are pretty slow. i'd recommend some sas 15k rpm disks :) really give some boost to system response.

of course u can do the same without hw raid controller, but it is a bit not safe :) (just install whole proxmox on some small drive, then format and prepare another hdd and mount it in /var/lib/vz (should copy files before).
