Installation Proxmox ZFS raid controller HP MR408i-o

I'm not an expert with raid controllers but if your model is a newer one (gen10+?) then you only have to delete the raid array and / or unassign your drives from raid. then your drives should be "passed through" like in hba mode. at least according to hpe marketing material this should be supported. i don't think you need to / should create a jbod but i may be mistaken.

Hi, I'm in a very close situation. I do have HPE DL380 gen11 server with MR408i controller and 8 disks (2 ssd 480 and 6 ssd 1.9TB). I'm trying to check if there's any issue to configure PVE to use ZFS raid 1 on the 2 480GB drives and than CEPH on the other 6 device. In order to get drive available during the installation I had to configure them all as JBOD. Not sure is the right way but PVE now at boot see every single disk. Anyone here does have any clue please? Thanks

The HBA 9500-16i also uses JBOD, but the disks are recognized normally. Are you saying that the MegaRAID 9560-16i does not display disks even in JBOD mode?

I recall that all HBAs from the 9400 series onward recognize and display disks as JBOD.

Or is it because it's a JBOD on the HPE MR408i that it's not recognized as a disk?
