Installation on a USB SSD?

Hi there,

will there any problems installing proxmox on a USB2.0 SSD-Stick (like: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Kingspec-16G...uter_Computer_Festplatten&hash=item43bf3456ed or that: http://www.ebay.de/itm/KingSpec-SSD...t=DE_Computing_USB_Sticks&hash=item483c994f41)?

Or is the USB 2.0 interface to slow for running the host? And are 8GB enough space?

The VMs will be installed on a separate HDD/SSD...

I suspect 8GB won't be enough, my install is using around 60GB

They are slow like hell, with the latter credited of 19Mb/s read and 13Mb/s write. A "not top" SSD does > 200MB/s, a commodity sata does 50MB/s.
Buy a real SSD, i.e. a 64GB ssd costs little more and works much much faster.
I don't know if your solution "could work", I really know I would never put a key element of a virtualization server on such a storage.

No, it should work without problems. Just keep in mind to avoid big writes on SSD and use ext4 for filesytem (default is ext3).
