I'm trying to install Proxmox VE on a new Asus server with 2 SSDs (Samsung PM863a) in mirror on a Pike controller. (CPU: Intel Gold 6136 12cc / RAM: 128GB DDR4-2666).
I used the proxmox-ve_5.1-3.iso with Etcher on a 32GB Sandisk USB drive.

After IP adresses are assigned, the installation gets aborted without any reason.
I just get the message:
"\nInstallation aborted - unable to continue (type exit or CTRL-D to reboot)"

I haven't used a USB install for ages, so I cannot say if it works or not, but have you tried the management interface way of installing? Mounting the ISO there and booting directly? Have you tried to install with a real CD/DVD or Zalman CD/DVD emulator? Most of the time, problems come by using an irregular boot medium.

Personal query:

new Asus server

Asus makes servers? Could you please provide a link

I have not. Used the same usb stick and same way to install a different device. So it should work.
I will try it and report back.
But isn't it weird i do not get a fail message?

yes they do, i cannot past links but if you google Asus RS700-E9-RS12, that's the one we use.

Did not work either.. same problem.
No usefull error message. :(

Sadly I couldn't wait for a fix, so i went back to Hyper-V. :-(

I think the issue is that the Intel VROC drivers aren't available yet the current proxmox iso..
