Hello,
I am trying to successfully install Xubuntu/Ubuntu on a Linux VM in Proxmox 9.1.1 (freshly installed).
Problem is that everytime I install Xubuntu or Ubuntu on the VM it boots from the ISO even if I remove the ISO after installation (when it says to remove the ISO and press enter).
I tried many VM Configs as:
Machine q35+OVMF BIOS+SCSI Disk Bus
Machine i440+SeaBIOS+SATA Disk Bus
etc.
I also tried to install GRUB after installation and change the boot order (disable CD/DVD Drive option and unmounted the ISO).
Nothing works...If i execute lsblk -f then I see the FSTYPE squash 4.0. This seems to indicate that the OS loaded from ISO and not from Disk.
I ran out of ideas what I could do that the OS boots from disk. I tried installation with ubuntu 24.04 and Xubuntu 25.10 but the issue is always the same.
I appreciate any help. Thanks.
