Install goes to blank screen, ive tried everything

i know there is a simular post but they never got an answer

Its an Asus M4A785-M running a AMD X4 620 and 4x1GB Corsair xms2-6400

when the disk boots i see the splash screen and i press enter to boot and it goes to a black screen, ive tried typing debug and it just shows the two loading items and then it goes to the same black screen

ive tried using multiple pci/pci-e video cards
ide and sata hard drives, no hard drives
disabled everything in the bios
flashed latest bios
tried a sata controller card
tried different cd-rom drives
tried taking all but 2 and all but 1 stick of ram out
memtest shows the ram is fine
tested the disk on another computer and it boots fine


the only thing i can think is that this is a AM3/AM2 board that uses DDR2 instead of DDR3, maybe theres something with the fact that its a hybrid board?

any help would be very very appreciated

try to boot with vga=normal to see where boot/init stops

when i ran the vga=normal it stopped at

You can post all the lines until hang point? (or its just that 2?)

You tryed to boot another linux distro on this machine?

You tryed add "cheatcodes" (acpi=off, apic=off, lapic...) to see what happens?

i did have a centos distro install fine before

and those were the only two lines but i ran it

debug vga=normal acpi=off apic=off

and it got me much much further now

i pressed crtl + d to exit debugging and it proceeded to install until it got to the part where it detected my NIC and said link was up then

NET: Registered protocol family 10
\nInstallation aborted - unable to continue

and now im at the root@proxmox

but this is good im much further now, im going to try another NIC

Please post later which hardware dont boot-up with actual proxmox kernel... maybe dev team include support for that hardware on future versions...

hmmm so with a new nic its the same thing, im unable to get past this one part

after the registered protocol family 10 part, the screen flicks as if to go to another possibly graphical portion of the install but then falls back to the original screen with the \nInstallation aborted part

im looking for where i might find logs to help me determine whats happening

all i needed was the acpi=off switch

it was the vga=normal switch that was killing me
