Install Fine. Not able to connect to VE via Browser

I've been trying things for a month or so and finally give up. I have intel twin cpu / twin nic server board that's working just fine. If I install Truenas, Ubuntu or windows server 2022 it connects to the internet and is also connectable on a web browser by whatever ip is offered up. Not so Proxmox - it seems to self configure and doesn;t work. I try installing again using different ip address that should work and don't and I'm getting close to calling dignitas.

What will you need from me to help fathom out this issue? I have tried everything that I could understand and no joy, so this a final act.

Stupid thing is, I had it working on another server just fine.

In the Proxmox install process (using the official ISO), the page which sets up the network info has a drop down selector to pick the network interface the info is being applied to.

It sounds like when you're going through it, you might be applying the IP address to the wrong interface?

What is the output of ip a and cat /etc/network/interfaces (when you login with a physical keyboard and display)? As readable photo will do if SSH also does not work.
Thank you all for helping. Please see attached photos from the two commands you asked for.

You (or the Proxmox installer) chose enp0s25 as the physical port of the virtual bridge, but enp0s25 reports NO-CARRIER, which usually means there is no (working) cable connected.

You chose IP address 192.168.100.2 for Proxmox (which the installer suggested) and 192.168.100.1 as the gateway, but those are unlikely to be correct. Does your local network use 192.168.100.0/24? Does your router have IP 192.168.100.1?

Lots of very similar threads on this forum that might give more information about how to fix this. Start with connecting the cable to the right port and looking up the gateway/router IP address (maybe check the network settings of the computer that you are trying to connect from to Proxmox). Then edit /etc/network/interfaces accordingly.

I have the same issue. Can't connect to anything but Ubuntu, Windows Server and others work just fine... did you fix it? I have a HPE DL380 Proliant Gen10Plus with 2 cards

The router / network is on 192.168.1.0.... I have tried swapping the cable but no joy. But then again, network was working fine on the cable with other OS's. But I accept that Proxmox may have defaulted to the unused adaptor. I have now connected both net ports physically to the network. Again, all works fine with everything but proxmox. Thank you for helping ,e out.

Then give Proxmox an unused IP address in that subnet (like 192.168.1.2), but make sure it's not inside the DHCP range of the router. Use the router IP as the gateway.

That's probably the case. That the install chose the other network port. But you can configure this yourself in /etc/network/interfaces.

Yeah, I've seen that before when installing too.

It's not hard to fix, once you know how though. :)

During the Proxmox installation you can choose which adapter the IP address gets assigned by clicking on the adapter name. It's actually a button / drop-down-list thing.

If you didn't catch it in time there, you can instead manually edit the /etc/network/interfaces file and change the adapter name in that, then reboot (or run ifreload -a instead of rebooting).

With that, the right adapter should have the right ip address and things should work properly. In theory. :)
