New to Proxmox and testing it for the first time. After performing a fresh install using the 8.3.1 ISO, everything seemed to work fine, until I rebooted for an upgrade. I added the Proxmox non-subscription repo and ran a dist-upgrade. Following the upgrade, I found that some users had resolved the issue by doing a fresh install of version 8.1. but that version is no longer available online. Any ideas on how to proceed?

One way to start would be to tell everyone exactly what didn't work, any error messages, and any other information about your system that might be relevant.

ETA: The thread title doesn't really make any sense to me. Makes it sound like the initial install failed but the text says otherwise. Is that the error message you are getting on boot?

Just to clarify, the issue isn’t with the initial installation, which was successful. However, after performing a dist-upgrade and rebooting, I encountered during the boot the error: 'initramfs unpacking failed: ZSTD-compressed data is corrupt.' using Dell R450

Maybe reinstall from the ISO then, and check the journal to make sure there aren't any disk errors. Then redo the upgrade. If you get any errors, resolve them before rebooting.
