Increase Clock Speed on CPU's assigned to VM

Hi. I have a Intel 1230v2 3.3Ghz processor on one of my hypervisors. I have a certain application that runs on a single-threaded mode...and sadly, sometimes it gets a bit close to 100% because of it's nature. Is it possible with the visualization layer to increase the clock speed in the VM and lower the number of cores I am assigning the VM? Right now I have 8 CPU's assigned to the one VM, but it would be more effective to have 6 CPU's with higher clock speed. The CPU's are using default (kvm64) at the moment.

Thanks for any info, happy to provide more info.

My understanding is it will never be possible to change VM clock speed. At least not with the technology we have in our world right now. When we create a VM with Cores, we are just allocating the entire physical core for that VM. When multiple VMs gets assigned the same core, all processing happening on the very same core at same speed.
