Hi

I currently have 4.4-1 booting from a zfs mirror. I want to upgrade to 5.1 when it has been released.

Can I used ZFS snapshots to have a rollback option if the in-place upgrade should fail for any reason?

Do I need to perform anything special in regards to ZFS also being upgraded on 5.1?

Is this the correct process: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Upgrade_from_4.x_to_5.0 -> In-place upgrade

Thanks

Hi,

I never try it but yes it should work.
But if you need to rollback please do it with a live Linux what support zfs.
It is not good to do it with the Linux which run on this dataset.

alright - this could be a promox installation on a USB stick? - when upgrading to 5.1 will the ZFS pools also be upgraded?

(I will try it on a VM setup first)

Yes you have to use debug mode and then cancel the installation, to enter the shell.

This is always a good idea.
