After a fresh Proxmox VE installation, I try to import a disk image from a URL using the "Download from a URL" feature.
Unlike the equivalent feature for ISO images, the import section does not have an option to extract a disk image that is compressed before validating and storing the image.
This means for any disk images that are compressed, i.e. as a tar/tar.gz, I cannot use the "Download from a URL" feature and must download, extract and then upload the disk image to Proxmox.
This is a major drawback and cannot see any evidence of this being improved in a new release.
Has someone overcome this problem and does anyone know why the feature exists in the ISO download but not the import/disk image download?
