I cannot get 2 Network Adaprots to work on VM

I have a VM that I am trying to get two network adaptors configured on. One on the native vlan and the second on vlan 20. I have vlan aware enabled on the bridge. The first network adaptor setup with no vlan tag and the second with vlan 20. The first network adaptor connects without issue. The second is showing as down. Can someone share some thoughts on what the issue may be or how I can diagnose the issue?

can you paste your ip addr output with your corresponding NIC which is supposedly down & /etc/network/interfaces ?
How is your NIC connected? Via USB, PCIe?
