Hi all, Im having perf issues with a "new" server in my cluster, I notice the "new" and strongest one is working very slow.

My old server is a HP DL380G7

And my "new" server is a HP DL580G7

I have to mention the 380 have 8 SAS 10K 300GB HDDs in RAID5 and the 580 have 3 SATA 5.4K 1TB HDDs in RAID5, both have 1G FBWC cache on the RAID controller
I understand that those are not only slower but also the data link is reduced to 3Gbps when using SATA but still, the performance is terribly slow.

I ran fio and pveperf on both:

I dont understand what is so wrong, it shouldnt be so slow (in the near future I will upgrade the SATA drives with SAS SSDs and 200GB more RAM, now Im just doing some testing)

Even for installing anything from APT is incredibly slow.

Can someone give me a hint what to look or what to do?

Thanks

Well, scores improved as soon as I finished installing Windows on a VM

But it was just 1 VM running, the DL380 have 16 VMs running 24/7

many topics outside proxmox...
this is not the root cause,
iirc, hw raid need "build" your raid configuration, instead of waiting many hours before use it, hw controller let you use directly but it "build in background", so you can instant use raid volume, but slow during many hours, depends of size+speed disk.

Great to know, sorry for the newbie question! Thanks
