Hi, I'm trying to install Proxmox but am having trouble getting it to function properly and be accessible
My current environment is the following:
(2) HPE DL ProLiant DL385p Gen8 that had ESXi 6.5. I updated both servers with the latest available BIOS, firmware for the storage controllers, iLO, and any other components before installing Proxmox. This was a beneficial step, as the updated iLO now supports HTML5, replacing the previous Java-based version, which is no longer supported or available. Both servers networks rely on a VLAN Id.
Issues:
With the latest version 8.4.1, the server boots to the command prompt but then enters an infinite reboot loop. I also tried installing earlier releases prior to 7.x, which don’t reboot unexpectedly, but I couldn't get the network to function—likely due to our use of a VLAN Id. I attempted to configure the network, but it didn’t resolve the issue.
Troubleshoot:
I installed other operating systems as follows to rule out potential issues with drivers, firmware, or other factors, since Proxmox wasn’t currently working for me.
Windows Server 2016 installed successfully and is accessible. The setup process was fairly straightforward.
I was unable to successfully install Ubuntu 20.04 Server.
Any Proxmox VE release after version 5.4.1 causes issues during setup and after installation. When accessing the system during setup through iLO, both the mouse and keyboard become barely usable. The mouse fails to sync properly with my physical mouse, and typing is delayed or results in repeated characters. Proxmox v5.4.1 provided a much smoother setup experience in comparison.
With the newer releases of Proxmox v6+ I see the following messages on the screen:
Boots infinitely
ACPI Unexpected SPCR Access Width
The BIOS has corrupt hw-PMU resources
Too many CPU, dynamic performance scaling displayed
usb2-port1 Cannot enable
- I’ve already checked the BIOS settings and also reset them to default. There wasn’t anything in the BIOS that made a noticeable difference during boot-up
Has anyone successfully installed a newer version of Proxmox on an HPE DL ProLiant DL385p Gen8?
Any help would greatly be appreciated
Besr Regards,
