Hi,
I bought an HP Elitedesk 800 G3 SFF (refurbished with an installed Win11) and wanted to install Proxmox
So I created a bootable USB-Stick (tried Etcher and Rufus) and deactivated "Secure Boot" in the BIOS.

But as soon as I restart the PC with the attached stick I get the following message:
Secure Boot
Selected boot image did not authenticate.
Please press enter to attempt boot to next deivce.

So it looks like "Secure Boot" is still active.

Does anybody know how to solve this?

Hi,

as stated, I disabled "Secure Boot" and enabled "Legacy Mode", but the message still show up. That's why I asking :(

Okay, go back into the BIOS and see if the setting actually took. If you find that it has not, investigate the other settings, and change a harmless one. Restart, go into the BIOS and see if it is still set.

This is to rule out something trivial, like a faulty BIOS battery, or something as simple as a setting somewhere in the BIOS which has locked the firmware; some systems allow you to do that.

Hi,
thanks for your help on that but I managed it on my own :)

Perhaps it was too late yesterday and/or perhaps the coffees this morning helped

I created a bootable disk with debian 11, which supports "Secure Boot".
Booted from it > Same error message
Re-enabled "Secure Boot" in the BIOS > Debian booted
Disabled "Secure Boot" in the BIOS > Debian booted
Re-tried Proxmox > booted

So I'm happy now :D
