I recently ordered a used HP server with the 410i raid. From my research, I know that I can't do a simple HBA style install and use ZFS. I'd like to use the raid card to make one array, but I'm worried about being able to monitor the raid health. I know there are command line utilities to check it, but I'd rather have an snmp alert. My other option is to buy an hba and bypass the 410i, using ZFS.

The HP server utils should be able to do traps, yet I never used them -m aybe also via iLO.
