howto import existing rbd (ceph) images into pve 2.3?

Currently, I can only see images generated by PVE in my rbd storage. However, I have a number of existing block devices stored in ceph which I'd like to import for use in my cluster. How can I do this?

Doing

rbd ls -l

List my existing images and pve-created images side-by-side, with no distiction between them. So how does PVE tell the difference?

File naming is different (vm-<VMID>-....)
