Hi, i don't need this now but i'm going to test the new version soon, just in case..?
Never tried this... just tried different kernels...

Simply do not remove the old kernel - then you can simply boot the old kernel at the grub prompt.
 
...mmm sure but, what about all the other new pve components?
up to now, simply choosing a different kernel at boot was not sufficient, instead it was best to "install" the kernel, also with the same pve version, which usually brings all the other compatible ad suited tools along...
i obviously am going to test new versions on test machines, not production ones, but would prefer to be able to restore a previous version entirely, not just the kernel
is there any way via apt-get and repositories?
