How to setup storage for Proxmox

Hello,
I need help with setting Storage for Proxmox.
I have available spare server with specs: 2x CPU, 96G Ram without storage.

What I have available also:
2x 500G (oldest)
1x 1000G (mid)
1x 4000G (newest)

I can spend more $250 for another disk(s) if its making sense for future use case.

Can you recommend me how to setup storage for Proxmox?

First example:
Buy 120G SSD for Proxmox OS
Buy another 1x4000G to RAID1 for VMs and data
1000G HDD for backups

Second example:
Use 2x 500G in RAID1 for Proxmox OS
Buy 120G SSD for ZFS cache
Buy another 1x4000G to RAID1 for VMs and data
1000G HDD for backups


Any other idea?

Hi,
Proxmox VE OS disk does not have to be fast. So 2X500G old spinners are ok.
I would set it up like your second example.
