How to quickly offstite disaster recovery backups

Hello forum,

I'm looking for some suggestions on how to quickly offsite full proxmox backups to a site that is not within our local office (disaster situation). At my day job we use a very expensive NetAPP dedupe so I'm aware of the benefits of dedupe. Instead of using NetApp I'm hoping to help a small company that currently use Proxmox where they take regular full backups of their virtual machines in Proxmox. My thought is to look for a way to copy these backups at the block level to an offsite location since some of our full backups may not be all that different at the block level. ZFS I believe can do this, but does anyone have any suggestions on how I would do this to a remote share? I know I can simply copy the entire backup remotely but that would take a very long time. At the block level perhaps I can reduce the backup time (or that is my hope!).

This thread was interesting in that they mention a product called opendedup - https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/backup-optimization-and-deduplication.23445/ Not sure if this would work for offsite backup though.

Any suggestions or pointers that can be given would be greatly appreciated as I dig more into what solutions I can test and possibly implement.

Thank you.
