How to Package a VM?

After creating a VM from a template (say CentOS 5 Standard) and putting in some binaries and scripts, etc., for a custom application, how do we package it as a VM template? Like for example, I have successfully installed a BlueOnyx VM on top of the standard CentOS5 template based VM and yum updated it - all without KVM. What method do I use to package the Application as a template?

I suggest to use 'dab' to create templates.

If it is to be debian based, yes, dab would be perfect. But if it is based on say, a CentOS template and then would we have to hack the dab CentOS example for it?
