I am running Proxmox on a self hosted server on OMV. I have a WIn 11 VM which i use several times a day.
I access via my laptop running arch linux. The process of
Opening a browser
Logging into Proxmox
Going to my VM
Opening console dropdown
Picking Spice
Downnloading FIle
Opening File manger
Clicking on VV file
Opening and closing File manager
Moving the VM to a spare desktop or closing browser

This feels a long winded process to do several times a day. I had this VM on Unraid and used a keyboard shortcut on my WTM to open it instantly in Remmina in a few seconds.
But the VM runs a lot better in Proxmox is there a way i can auto load it from a shortcut or via script ?

If you search these forums - you'll find users who have endeavored to write scripts to enable this - successfully.
Basically - a script is launched in the client which then through API to the Proxmox host (with the correct permissions / tokens etc. set) obtains the spice connect file & then launches on client viewer.
I'll link one such post that uses arch so maybe this will help you.

NOTE: I don't use any of these myself & always carefully understand what a script is doing / trying todo before blindly running it!

You could setup an SSH tunnel or VPN to make your remove VMs part of your local network, like Wireguard.
Or setup a different remote viewer to the VMs directly like VNC, RDP, Parsec or Remmina.

So can i use Remmina with Proxmox that would be great any idea on how to set it up or any docs ?

I don't know. Isn't Remmina "just" a VNC client? How do you set it up for physical machines (without Unraid)? Then do that for each VM you have. I assume it has a manual and guides.

I assume he wants spice specifically - I know I have VMs where I only want spice.
I agree; SPICE worst the best for VMs with graphical desktops.

Hi,

No remmina also supports rdp (using freerdp). To get the best performance I would use rdp to connect and remote work with windows. Either use Remmina (multi protocol client) as you are used to or use freerdp directly or some advanced client like Thincast Client (https://thincast.com/en/products/client) (RDP only but supports all platforms (win, linux and macos)

So long
