How to install when I need two or more ISOs files for installation?

Hello everyone!

I'm trying to install all versions of Microsoft SO in my PVE. Several Windows have ISOs to install, so that's easy. But I'm facing difficulties to install MS-DOS 6.22 (from WinWorld PC).

First, for this version there's just .img files. So I've converted them to .iso files, problem solved.

Then I couldn't boot a VM with those .iso (nor .img) files. I've received a warning: "no bootable disc". So I installed ISO Workshop and creat a bootable .iso file. Problem solved.

MSDOS 6.22 requires 3 disks, so I've created one .iso file with all .img files, but the installation program keeps asking for the second installation disk.
So I've created 3 .iso files (one for each .img file) but I can't insert the second disk.
I've tried to change the cd and also tried to install 3 cd readers (as suggested here and here.
This is what's happening:

Any thoughts?

The installer wants you to insert the second disc in drive A:, so you could try going to the hardware tab of your VM, then select the CD drive, and just swap the .iso / .img file there. Does that work?

No, it doesn’t work. I’m still stuck in a message asking for the second disk :(.

I’ve also tried to create several drives and also tried to create an one big bootable CD with all image files inside. None of them worked.

I think you need a virtual floppy drive because the installer is waiting for a change in the (virtual) floppy drive and does not notice the change in the (virtual) optical drive.
Maybe this post on stack exchange can help you do this manually, since Proxmox does not have a GUI for floppy drives?
(I know that FreeDOS can easily be install from an ISO.)

Since you've modified already the img files into ISO files, you could just aswell copy the contents of all of the 3 disks into one single bootable ISO. It won't ask for next disk anymore.

I've already tried and also it didn't work. Still asking for disk #2. :(

Yes, I also think that's the problem. I'll try your suggestion. Thank you.

I'll be honest to you: I've tried to do what they said but it's beyond my capabilities.

I've searched for other easier options and a found this thread from 2013 where it was discussed about a creation of a floopy disk option and the answer was a big "if you want it, pay for it or do it yourself" or something like that. My point: this is a "problem" since several years and Proxmox team is not interested in adding this functionality. And I understand both sides of that thread and I don't want to bring this up again.

My solution: I've created a VM using Virtual Box and it was exported to Proxmox VM, using this tutorial. It's worked just like magic.

Problem solved.

Thank you all! And my apologies for my poor English.
