How to enable encrypted backups using proxmox backup server ?

Hi forum,

I am using a proxmox backup server as target for my backups and I am missing the option of encrypting the backups. Only the transport is encrypted (https) - on my proxmox backup server the files will be stored unencrypted. Bug or feature ? What am I doing wrong ? Any advice will be highly appreciated.

You need to enable it on the source (PVE), the encryption key is source/cluster-specific.

Thank you for your quick reply. You are right, but this is a completely different approach. I am searching for a solution to encrypt the backup itself - not the underneath storage.

That‘s why you need to enable the encryption on the source (client). Encryption is done there and transparent to the PBS.
