If you regularly create similar configuration of VMs, you can create a blank VM with or without disk image and turn it into a template. Then whenever you need a VM, just clone it. Use full cloning instead of linked ones. This is much faster than creating new VM even if you could change the default.
The Templating can be used numerous other ways./ Such as installing an OS onto a small disk image but not configure anything else. Turn that into a template and now you have a VM that is configured and fresh OS loaded than you can clone. Certainly saves time from siting there and watching the installation process.
