Hello Team,

Good Afternoon!!!!

I have a Debain Server with 32 CPUs and I configured Proxmox in this Server,

So can any one tell me How I can Allocate CPUs while creating the VMS in side this server for a Better Performance,

I have to create 4 VMS,

VM1 - Will have more load with applications
VM2 - Will havae less load comapared to VM1,
VM3 - Mysql
VM4 - Less load for Elasticsearch

Your Help in this will save my Life....

Thanks

I recommend to just leave it as it is. Best tradeoff between performance and easy use, which virtualization is about.

Use cpu type=host and if you want to get the last 2-5% of performance out, search for cpu pinning and read the implications. Normally this is not necessary.

Depends on the workload, yet having less but faster cores is often better than having more and slower cores. Our cluster has over twohundred VMs and we never used all 8 cores of our two CPUs per node at once. RAM is much, much more important. Applications will often also just feel much faster with higher clockspeeds and unless you have thousands of concurrent sessions on the machine that do actual work, you won't see it.

In the end, you will need to have hard numbers (metrics) over different scenarios in order to optimize it properly.
