[SOLVED] How can I restore (overwrite) a CT from a Proxmox Backup Server backup?

Proxmox VE 9.0.11, Proxmox Backup Server 4.0.11.

I screwed up the upgrade of the software running in one of my containers (named "monitor", CT ID 106) and now I'm trying to restore it from the PBS backup. I'd like to overwrite the old CT with the one from the backup, maintaining the same ID and everything else.

But, when I try to do the restore and set 106 as the CT ID, I get a "This CT ID is already in use". Of course it is! I'm just trying to overwrite it!

What am I supposed to do? Thanks.

Select the container (or VM) under the Proxmox node (lab in your case), go to the Backup pane and click the Restore button. Please note that any virtual disks (also those that are not part of the backup) are deleted automatically before the restore.
Alternatively, delete the container (or VM) before restoring from the Backups storage as you are doing now.

Hello, thanks for your support!

The CT -> Backup route was the first I tried, but there is nothing there

before I tried your other suggestion (delete+restore): can you please help me understand why there is nothing under my CT backup?

Select the correct storage in the upper-right corner (after Storage: ). Currently, the storage named local is selected/ You need to select your PBS, which appear to be named proxmox-backup-server.

Than you, thank you, THANK YOU! As soon as I changed the storage, I saw my backup and I was able to restore from it.

If you come to Ferrara (Italy), don't forget to stop by for a glass of wine :)

If you don't (want to) store backups on the storage named local then you might want to remove Backup from the Content multi-select list in the Storage settings.
Please edit the first post in this thread and select Solved so other people can find this solution easily when searching in the future.
