Hello,
I've been using ProxMox for about 2 years now. It is an unbelievably powerful piece of software and I appreciate what this community does to make it available.
VMWare, as part of their "VCenter Converter" has software that is somehow able to clone the target machine without downing it. Is there anything close to this available in the open source realm? I don't need anything polished, or an end product, a basic command line script or something half baked would definitely help me get pointed in the right direction. Of course, if anyone is aware of something that is already available that is ready for production, that is absolutely welcome as well.
VCenter Converter is also able to accomplish the "Hot Clone" without any client software being run on the target machine (it simply needs root/administrative credentials). This feature would be desirable, but by no means necessary.
I'm just rather curious how something like this does not already exist in the open source community, and I'm really hoping it's just my ignorance of its existence, rather than the absence there of.
Thanks again everybody!
