High Memory usage.

Hello,
I have looked around and can't seem to find anything that helps so I thought i should just start a new thread. I have a vm running of linux mint. within mint I am showing that I am using at the highest 3gb of ram. the majority of the time its about 1gb. But in the proxmox node I am seeing 15.33gb of the 16gb I have allocated. I started with 8gb and it was always maxed so I jumped it up to 16gb to see if it would help. as you can see it just maxes it out as well.

Any ideas why this might be happening? any solutions?

thank you for the info but it doesn't answer my question... I have a server stating (within the server) that it is only using up to 3gb of ram. but proxmox even through the cli (htop) that it is using up to 16gb of ram. It looks normal when I start up the server but it just grows to be that high!

But it does, the static allocation has the amount right away, the dynamic (ballooning) allocation grows to the size and only if needed will be reduced.

I have almost same status on my proxmox.
so I running a win2k8 server on proxmox. the gui on proxmox show my vm used mem 38,64GB from allocation mem 40GB.
and i try look from inside vm win2k8 for used of mem it show just 1.70GB, and on proxmox its not used 40GB. its there any solution ?

What Alwin is saying is that the Proxmox host sort of allocates all its RAM to guests and such like and releases it automatically when needed. That means that having all the RAM utilised is not a bad thing. It shows up as utilised, but it will free it when needed. It took me a little while to get my head around it too. Look up that doc above around the ballooning driver (assuming you're using this in your guests. It will explain it I think.
