SO, first question is why do i see four of each of my san drives? I only see one in the unity SAN?

Once I create a directory in the individual node, I can see it on that node. i go into the cluster and share that directory to the other node but it's not able to use it? and i'm not sure why.

i feel like i should note... i'm on the learning curve the best i can be at this point. :D

okay i got that to make them LCM but i wanted directories for storage etc. it wont let me seem to make those LCMs into that for some reason?

@williamss159 , what do you mean by LCM? Perhaps LVM?

LVM is a block type storage , there are no files or directories. If you follow one of many guides, including the one I posted earlier, PVE will be able to slice and dice pieces of overall LVM pool into smaller block level pieces it can use.

There are also more than a few videos on this topic, perhaps a more visual guide will help? Without any endorsement, here is an example:

thank you for the help @bbgeek17 i actually followed the proxmox wiki - which got me to be able to make the LVM and thin lvm.

however i need something to hold ISO files etc. and i'm having trouble makeing the directory. in CLI i used mkdir to format one of the wwid's but it still isn't allowing me to do anything with it - i'm not sure why. thoughts?

Hi @williamss159 ,
If you want to store ISO, which are files, you need a filesystem. Filesystems can be created on top of a raw device , partition, or LVM slice.
However, cluster of nodes is a special case. It requires a cluster aware filesystem. Using regular filesystem will cause data corruption.
There are two primary freely available cluster filesystems : OCFS and GFS2. Neither is directly integrated or supported by PVE. If you want to use one , you will find a lot of reference material online.

Another popular option is to use NFS, ie NAS.
You can implement it as external device, or run inside a VM. Advice on implementing one is out of the scope of the forum. There are many variables that influence the outcome.

Additionally, after you created a filesystem you need to mount it, preferably persistently.
