Hi everyone, I’m facing a frustrating issue with GPU passthrough on Proxmox VE and need some guidance. Here’s my setup and problem:

System & Hardware Details

  • Proxmox VE Version: pve-manager/9.0.10/deb1ca707ec72a89
  • Kernel: Linux 6.14.11-2-pve (2025-09-12T09:46Z)
  • Boot Mode: Legacy BIOS
  • CPU: 40 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2670 v2 @ 2.50GHz (2 sockets)
  • Passthrough GPU: AMD BC160 (Navi 12, PCIe ID: 1002:7360)
  • GPU Driver in Host: vfio-pci (confirmed via lspci -vvv)

The Problem

  1. After booting the PVE host, first launch of the Windows 11 VM (with BC160 passthrough) works perfectly—no freezes, VM runs normally.
  2. When I shut down the VM and try to start it a second time, the entire PVE host freezes.
I’ve verified the BC160 stays bound to vfio-pci between VM restarts, so driver unbinding isn’t the issue. Any ideas what’s causing the host freeze on the second VM launch? Thanks in advance!1758617425710.png1758617441927.png
