Goodd day everyone out there,

Please could someone send me a short guide about how to configure my Proxmox operating system? i mean i been watching a youtube video the guy was using some weird commands on putty.exe panel to configure the promox os, It was something also about Virtio drivers or so. but sadly the commands weren't clear because he was using copy paste option.
I'd be glad if someone out there helped me out.

Best regards, Kun.

Honestly, by the sounds of it you need to get educated on the linux side of things. The proxmox wiki has everything you need, but you need to have a basic linux understanding before any of it will make sense.

Sorry, maybe i've tried to ask for a help with lack of explanation, I am trying to set up a gameserver on proxmox virtual machines, i can install proxmox successfully and install the vm, but there were some configurations on putty.exe panel on the main root i mean. The guy who installed it seem is really doesn't want to give more details about these configurations. But he was using virtio driver and i can post some screenshots of the command results he has used. ( notice the machines will be running on windows server 2008 r2 enterprise) So a little help about how to configure my promox through putty panel would be really nice and appreciated, thanks in advance.

Could you please post the you tube video link you are trying to follow?

Hello,

Sorry, i don't follow any link, as i've mentioned above i have hired someone to configure proxmox on my dedicated host.. we've been on teamviewer so i've noticed most of his steps and i have told you most of things i've got. But i believe there should be some basic configuration such as network configuration, hardware configuration and these kind of configurations.

Best regards, Kun.

If i am understanding right the configuration you are saying the guy did not want to share with you are basic in Proxmox. So i dont believe he was really trying to hide them from you. I am just assuming here since it is still unclear. I think he was setting your network and virtual disk image with virtio driver. Post the command result if you can.

Based on your screen shots, he was simply creating or expanding LVM volumes for proxmox installation. It really had nothing to do with VM configuration. I still don't think he was trying to hide. Even if he was this is way too basic not to understand what he was doing. Any Linux user can pick up on this.

I do believe you need done basic experience on Linux to really use proxmox or any other Linux based OS. We are here to help you. But the level of help you will need may be too extensive.

Now let's start again. Now that you know what he was doing, what are you wanting to know regarding your VM configuration?
Is everything working right now?
You needed help understanding VM.conf file?
You need help understanding virtio?

Hello,

I had a conclusion, you are supposing that i don't have any experience with linux, and that is completely right.. is there any place where to start or guide about learning linux basics and proxmox configuration basics?

Best regards,
Kun.

Honestly, just dig in, snag a spare piece of hardware and try setting up installing a basic OS (CentOS, Debain, Ububtu) there are tons of them for free. One with a desktop GUI's might assist as you learn the ropes with CLI. You could also pick up the "Mastering Proxmox" book from the sticky at the top of this forum. There are tons of sources out there as its open source.

We are hear to help the best we can, but its tough if you don't have the basic knowledge, but anyone can get that with a little time and effort. Good luck!

well for proxmox basics you really don't need linux experience, as long as you follow standard procedures, and enterprise-grade hardware, not too recent, etc. You just put the cd in the drive, boot the server, answera few question, and at the end reboot. From then, you can mostly live only by the web gui.

Most advanced usage, or if you need special configs/tuning, you'll need to have some linux system and command line experience.

To really learn useful stuff, you need to use some server (ie: no graphical gui) distro, and experience, but that needs time. If you're in a hurry, just invest some money in basic linux learning/consulting, instead of a "proxmox expert": you will learn more yourself and you'll be more in control of your system, and then this forum will be able to help more about proxmox, and drive you to solve most common issues.

Honestly, its all based on Hetzner Dedicated server, i've installed proxmox os on it, but i had to pay him xx of money to configure the operating system. I don't need any help regarding to the proxmox GUI or web interface, i can handle most of things over there.
My problem was, what he has done exactly in the putty.exe panel to configure proxmox?

Kun.
