I have read the features to use for proxmox backup server. I would like to use a Dell PowerEdge R350 rack 1 cpu Xeon E-2314 / 2.8 GHz - RAM 16 GB server. As recommended disks to go to SSD or I can equip it with disks I wanted to put 2 in raid 1, these are the disks 960GB SSD SATA Mixed Use 6Gbps 512e 2.5in Hot-plug Drive.
I don't know how the backup space occupation works, I should backup two virtual machines, with 100/150 gb disks respectively. Are the disks I'm foreseeing too small, or could I start with two 480 gb ssd disks for now ( 480GB SSD SATA Mixed Use 6Gbps 512e 2.5in Hot-plug Drive ) and then add it later?
Using 480GB disks how many backup versions of my servers could I have ?

You can save yourself some money and use non Dell SSD's, in particular the SATA models have come down quite a bit in price this year. I use Micron 5300 Pro & Max in addition to Intel 4620 and they work perfectly in Dell servers, they also cost 1/4 the price of Dell equivalent.
I would go for 1.92TB drives at a min.
