Hello,

Small office business here with two blades Dell PowerEdge M640 (for PE VRTX) with Perc 8 Shared storage between the two hosts running on VMWare ESXi 7 both of them.

Question is, I want to replace this hardware with a similar concept but for best compatibility with PVE. Can anyone recommend something new within the last year or two of a stack of nodes 2 to be exact we'd like to consider and both connected at the same time to shared storage.

As far as vendor we prefer dell but open to all suggestions. Needs to be solid with support + warranty (on the hardware side) due to being production systems.

Thanks!

There is no officially supported software capable of running such a system you described. You need at least a third vote in form of qdevice, just two nodes is not working. The shared storage in this setup would be suboptimal but working with LVM (no snapshots and no thin provisioning), if you want to stick to a supported (from Proxmox) configuration.

The easiest and cheapest setup I can think of is a three-node-ceph cluster with e.g. 3x R6515 with dell boss for PVE and two NVMe for ceph. We just sold such a system to a customer and the pricepoint was about 5k€ for each server. Dell's fiscal quarter is ending, so you may get good prices.
