H700 Perc Controllers

Good day Community

I have recently been moving all my machines over to proxmox, now we want to build the dedicated backup server, however my R710 Dell Raid Controller (Perc H700) is apparently not able to support pass through, and as such i had far and wide for the Default OEM LSI firmware just to attempt and see if it is possible.
Yet when i loaded the firmware for MegaRAID SAS 9260-8i > mr2108fw.rom this was installed sucessfully, however when attempting to see all disk for selection, it appears to still only display one Drive. (virtual Drive)

From what i have read the next option is to use the h700 as is, but then create mutliple virtual drives all set as Raid 0, this will then allow me to detect them in the Proxmox GUI during installation, but this is a double edge sword as it wont have the dedicated performance of pass-through cards.

What im hoping is that there might be someone within the Community that has experienced this problem and was perhaps able to achieve the goal without having to buy another HBA or H710/720/200 cards.


Any guidance or recommendations on how i will achieve the end goal will truly be appreciated.

I just flashed one of out "H710 D1" RAID cards to IT mode to use ZFS. Only drawback is iDrac does not show current status of the card or disks any more, which is not important for me.

Edit: Sorry, I overlooked your card model. If there is no proper way to cross flash H700, you should buy a HBA.

Many years ago on my r715. I replaced my h700 with an h200. I think you can do the same on your r710. Think I might have made the drives as raid 0. Don't remember. Don't remember why I had problems with the h700. Maybe something in Proxmox 3. LOL

Anyway it worked for many years.
