I'm at the end of my rope here.. I have literally tried everything now. My BIOS settings are correct, the grub loader is set correctly, my vfio modules are loaded, my iommu groups are separated, the vfio modules are in use by the GPU, the modules are blacklisted. I've tried every parameter and everytime it's the same result; whenever I boot the vm the host get stuck for a few secs and reboots.

Could someone please tell me what this could be?

Thanks in advance

Hardware:
Nvidea RTX 2080 for the guest is in PCIe x16 first slot running at x16
Nvdiea GeForce 6700 for the host is in PCIex4 slot running at x4
Ryzen 1700x
Ax370 gaming k7

In the end, the hardware-software-combination. Just that plain and simple.

I also climbed a lot of similar ropes and in the end, it was often that exactly that model did not work. Swapped it out with a different brand or 2080 with 2080ti and it worked straight out-of-the-box. I cannot say if it is a different gpu firmware/bios... but strangely it just worked afterwards.

Just for adding another meter (or roughly 3 feet if you're living in one of the 3 countries that are still not using the metric system for day-to-day use) to your rope, have you tried via unraid? If that works, we can conclude that it is the software, that is not optimized for your hardware.

I had a different Problem, VM Boots but driver didn't load (Code 43), i fixed it by patching the rom of the gfx and and loading that.

Search for Code 43 if you want to test this.
