Good morning everybody,

I've a problem of network cards I don't know if it can be solved ...

So, I've 2 physical network cards in my machine. I created a bridge for each network card (vmbr0 and vmbr1).

My first VM is in fact a gateway with 2 virtual interfaces. The first interface will act as my WAN and the second as LAN. The first interface is connected to my vmbr0 and the second to vmbr1.

Here's the problem : as my virtual machine is acting as gateway, my modem is configured as a bridge and my virtual WAN interface is acting as a PPP0 connection ; it receives a public IP address from the provider. So because of this I don't know how can I configure my gateway on my vmr0 bridge ; I even dont know if it's possible...

Per advance, thanks to all for your help

Kind Regards

Arnaud

Set vmbr0 to use DHCP if your provider deploy IP over it.

Hello Nemesiz,

I thank you for your answer. I cannot do that because I need a ppp0 interface with username and password to connect to my provider. The WAN virtual interface of my gateway is configured with my provider's username and password so it receives a public ip adress. Is it possible to configure the system so that vmbr0 and my WAN virtual interface get the same public IP adress of my provider ? (according to the fact that there's no other virtual interface connected to vmbr0) ?

Thanks :)

Hello,

Sorry for my late answer, here's a pic of my ppp0 config of my gateway server : in fact there are 3 virtual nics but the lan and dmz nics are working very well. Eacht virtual interface has its own vmbr.. bridge and each vmbr.. bridge has its own physical network card ...

thanks for your help

Hello all,

Still fighting with my PPP0 nic card. what will happen if I dont config my vmbr0 interface ? According to the fact that this vmbr0 has 1 physcal nic connected with my modem/router and that my modem/router is set in bridge mode ? I'm a little bit afraid that this is vmbr0 that receives the public IP address instead of my gateway. what do you think ?
Thanks to all
