I have Proxmox Backup Server installed and operative. I am trying to restore a single file from a backup in PVE. According to the PBS Wiki "The File Restore button in the Backups tab of the storage GUI can be used to open a file browser directly on the data contained in a backup. This feature is only available for backups on a Proxmox Backup Server."

If I select a single file to restore I do not see any option to actually restore it, only download. What am I missing?

Thanks for any help!

It does not work that way. You need to download the file and copy it back to the server.

You could only do a file-based direct restore if you would backup the VM from the inside, not from the outside. There is no way for PBS to copy the file inside of the VM. It is copyied from the outside and cannot be replaced from the outside without destroying the filesystem inside.
