Feature request?

ProxMox forum members,

When I am in the "Create Virtual Machine" wizard and get to the OS screen and select "Use CD/DVD disc image file (ISO):", select my storage, and the get to the "ISO image" drop down menu, I am curious if there a way to access a sub-directory within that directory to get to an ISO file or would such a capability need to constitute a new feature request?

In the case whereby such a capability would require a new feature request, how do I go about properly making such a request or have I just done so herein?

Thank you as always to the wonderful people that make ProxMox possible and all the community members here that work to improve it too.

Stuart

Neobin,

Forgive me for not understanding entirely the dialogue, but this patch was written in July of 2023 and we are in February of 2025, might I ask why it is not part of the current distribution of ProxMox? I do not mean to ask this with any arrogance in mind. I completely understand that priority is given to concerns that are impacting your large customers (as is completely reasonable).

It does seem like this would be an innocuous change that would have low impact on the code base. Perhaps its lack of inclusion was an oversight that it did not make into the code base or Is it because the depth configuration code needs to be written and it's not complete yet? Just curios, not trying to be demanding at all.

Thanks,
Stuart

@Neobin is a (distinguished) community member, not a staff member, so cannot answer such questions.

The reason is very simple, see the last comment in the bug report: https://bugzilla.proxmox.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2884#c9 The original author has since left the company and nobody has picked up the issue/series yet. You can subscribe to the issue to express interest and in such cases it can be even fine to bump the issue.

Fiona,

I hope I did not upset you or anyone at ProxMox, I have nothing but appreciation for everyone there. I did not realize he was a community member and just responded in the context of how I perceived him. I will try to pay more attention to the classification under someone's name in the future.

That said, I did respond to the bug report and do honestly think that if eventually the patch makes it into the production code base it will be useful to many users.

Thank you for all your time and consideration do have a wonderful week!

No worries, I really just wanted to point it out :)

Yes, there are quite a few CC-ed users. I did briefly ping the issue internally, but unfortunately, nobody picked it up yet.
