Feature request - allow a startup delay to be specified (or dependency on another VM)

Hi,

I have a number of VMs on a single physical host which have interdependencies. For example, there is a DBServer and a number of Application servers. The appServers won't start correctly until the dbServer is up and running.

It would be great if I could tell Proxmox about this dependency so it would start them up in the right way. Alternatively if I could specify a numberOfSeconds delay that proxmox would observe before starting up the machine - that would help.

This is only relevant to a power off/power on (or reboot) scenario.

Hi,

I want to have that, too. I already did that with a init-script which startup the VMIDs "qm start 101" but it is not working on shutdown because of Win-Servers (Domäin-Controller, etc.) not shutting down succesfully.
What I really need is a sort of "vmware-tools" for proxmox which controls the shutdown (of win-servers).

I also would like a way to control the start and shutdown order of VMIDs.

Like a software power sequencer- would be quite useful indeed.

As it stands the best we can do is adjust bootloader delays.
Effective, yes although relatively primitive.

why don't you run on the bdServer at the end of the start process a ssh command to the PVE server to make it run the VM's ?
