I built a qcow2 copy of a single nvme Manjaro system that runs daily on my daily PC.
( Before coping I commented out all the fstab entries.)
I built a sterile uefi vm (no disk) with only the efi disk.
Then installed the qcow2 copy of the Manjaro system in the newly built vm.
Activated the newly installed disk and adjusted the 'options' to include it as a boot device.
Boot attempt of the vm failed at a shell> prompt
Next exited the shell promot and went to the boot a file entry and selected the appropriate file, and the vm booted as I expected to the Manjaro system.
After it was up and running I did a grub-install followed by a grub-update.
If I do a restart of the vm it reboot ok, but if I shutdown the vm and then reboot (from PVE gui vm console) it fails again.
I'm at a lose of what to do next in the trouble shooting/correcting of this issue ???
Is this an issue of moving a nvme based OS to a vm ? (Just guessing on my part.)
