Goodday everyone,

I was wondering wether it is possible to have the Ceph monitors and managers outside of the Proxmox cluster.
E.g. all the Ceph-OSD processes run on the hypervisor cluster while the monitors and managers run on external servers (these won't have Proxmox installed on them).

greetings,

Strigi

This is no problem.

The only downside will be if you have subscriptions, as proxmox's ceph & pve packages need to be installed on all hosts with a valid subscription.

So this would mean:
I have 5 proxmox hypervisors with Ceph OSD's.
And 3 other servers where the ceph mon and mgr will be running.

And then I would need 8 subscriptions? Even though those three servers don't have proxmox?

You can run it without subscription. Only in the case of support through Proxmox, all those servers need to run PVE and have a valid subscription.
